Amy Rosenberg, founder, Overtown Music Project:
Amy Rosenberg got emotionally hooked on Overtown when she took a tour
during Black History Month. Intent on uncovering the neighborhood’s musical
roots and using that luster to inspire the next generation, she conceived the
Overtown Music Project (OMP). The OMP mission is to keep the story of the
town’s illustrious past alive through multi-sensory events.

Charles “Stretch” Ledford, Overtown: Inside/Out:
To earn his masters in multimedia journalism from University of Miami School of
Communications, Ledford created “Overtown: Inside/Out,” a collection of short
documentaries starring “Towners.” To share them with the community, he set up kiosks in
neighborhood venues like a barber shop, convenience store and laundromat. His films shine
light on the human spirit that is much more dimensional than any crime stat.
