Classical Music Listening
Listening to the Mozart Oboe
Concerto, you don’t hear the twang
of the forte piano and the horns
seem very sharp sounding. I think
these headphones are my least
favorite for classical music.
Rock, Pop and Dance Listening
If you like to rock out, these are
the cans for you. Now the heavy
bass response may seem like an
advantage. You will hear the impact
of a kick drum and the screaming of
the electric guitars.
Because of the forward nature of
these headphones, there is not as
great a sense of staging as you will
find with the other models.
Beats By Dr. Dre Executive
The Executive folds up into a nicely sized package that is
almost as thin as the Bose that has the most compact package
in the group. The headphones are solidly built with a lot of
metal parts, but this also makes them heavy. The headband is
thickly padded, as are the ear pads.
The headband is very tight and the ear pads sit on my ears, not
over them. I don’t think I have a larger-than-usual skull but
these seem to clamp down uncomfortably hard. Perhaps after
some wearing, they will not fit so tight. The ear pads didn’t
seem to encompass my ears as was the case with the others.
Instead, the headphones seemed to sit tight on top of my ears,
allowing more of the surrounding noise to be audible.
My overall impression is that the Monster Beats Executive have
a very forward, in-your-face type of sound. They are extremely
dynamic, so much so that, at times, I think they overshadow
and dominate the music.
The Ideal Listener:
For those who want to rock
the skies! If you have a
tendency to adjust the bass
up on your auto stereo, these
are probably the headphones
you will like best.
